Our Roots

The Good Child Foundation was founded in the Province of Chanthaburi that covers 6,338 km2 or 2,447 square miles.

Triamsuksa School is located in Nayai am which has a population of approximately 10,000 in the province’s population of half a million.  The school is 205km south-east of Bangkok, a three hour drive to the capital city, two hours to the airport.

The religions of Chanthaburi are Buddhist 83.6%, Christian 4.14%, Muslim 0.33% with 11.93% following other beliefs.
 
The Province is famous for its fruit festival. The Chanthaburi fruit festival is annually held in May lasting one week at Chanthaburi stadium and throughout the province. It is a fruit paradise, offering fresh picked tropical fruits from orchards such as Durian, Rambutan and Mangosteen. The festival is brought to life by the amazing fruit floats, fruit quality contests, a beauty pageant, local jewellery and an OTOP bazaar (‘one tambon one product’ – a locally made goods bazaar).

The Province name of Chanthaburi translates as 'Moon City'. Our Province is one of Thailand's real hidden gems, known well to the Thai's but barely touched by international tourism.
 
The Province of Chanthaburi is located in the east of Thailand. It has a coastline along the Gulf of Siam and shares a border with Cambodia. Its wonderful white sandy beaches and fresh seafood draws Thai's from far and near.
 
Inland, we are know as the 'orchard of Thailand', with tropical fruits such as mangosteen, durian and rambutan grown along with many others. Further inland the Province becomes mountainous and wild elephant can still be seen. Sometimes our students tell us of how a wild elephant has ruined their vegetable patch the previous night!
 
Blessed with stunning waterfalls in several national parks, beautiful Buddhist temples perched high on mountainsides and Thailand's largest Catholic Cathedral, a memorable experience awaits all those who visit.
 
The Province famous for our gem mining and gems are polished, cut and sent around the world. Our greatest gem is our people, the real soul of Chanthaburi.
